Christmas Tree Farm wNC

The Farm.

Our Story

A Legacy Rooted in Tradition

The story of Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm began over a hundred years ago, with a simple family farm in these very mountains. The land has been passed down through generations of the Boyd family, carrying forward a legacy of hard work, love for the land, and community spirit. In 1984, Dan Boyd – a local dentist with a passion for the outdoors – planted the farm’s very first Fraser fir seedlings on the old homestead.

What started as a retirement hobby blossomed into something extraordinary. By 1999, the choose-and-cut tradition had officially begun on Boyd Mountain, and families from near and far started making the journey to our farm each year to find their Christmas tree. Today, we couldn’t be prouder of how that little idea grew into a beloved annual celebration.

at its heart, you'll find family

Family-Owned and Operated.

Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm is, at its heart, a family operation. We believe the warmth of family is what makes the holidays special, and we run our farm with that philosophy every day. When you visit, you’ll likely meet members of the Boyd family and our dedicated team, all working together to make your experience memorable. Whether it’s Grandpa sharing stories of Christmases past, or the younger generation hauling trees with a smile, our family is here to welcome your family. We treat every guest as a friend and neighbor – some of you we’ve seen year after year, watching your children grow alongside our trees!

Be Our Guests!

Mountain Heritage and Hospitality.

Our farm is nestled on 175 acres of picturesque mountain land that the Boyd family has called home for decades. The old white farmhouse at the entrance – built in the early 1900s – stands as a gentle reminder of our heritage and the generations raised here. We’re proud to share a piece of this heritage with you. The Great Smoky Mountains provide not only a stunning backdrop but also rich soil and cool, misty air that help our Fraser firs thrive. We’re grateful to be stewards of this land and strive to honor its bounty. When you step onto Boyd Mountain, you’re not just at a tree farm – you’re a guest on our family homestead, and we’ll make you feel right at home with genuine Southern Appalachian hospitality.

Highest-quaility Fraser Fir Christmas Trees

The Boyd Family Commitment.

We are committed to growing the highest-quality Christmas trees in a way that respects nature and ensures sustainability for future generations. Our Fraser firs are nurtured year-round – we carefully plant, prune, and care for them through all seasons so that each tree is healthy and beautiful when Christmas arrives. For every tree harvested, we plant one (or more!) new seedlings, ensuring the cycle of life continues and our mountainsides stay green. By choosing a real tree from us, you’re also choosing an eco-friendly option – real trees are renewable, recyclable, and support local wildlife habitat. We use sustainable farming practices and minimal pesticides, working with the environment in mind at every step. Quality and freshness are our top priorities, and it shows – from the deep green of our tree needles to the rich pine scent that wafts through our fields.

Spreading Christmas Cheer Year After Year

Thanking Our Community.

From humble beginnings to becoming one of North Carolina’s most beloved Christmas tree destinations, our mission has always remained the same: spread Christmas cheer and create a space for family traditions. Over the years, Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm has been featured in magazines and on TV for its unique charm – including a spotlight in Our State Magazine and even a special on UNC TV’s “People with Dr. William Friday”. While we’re honored by the recognition, what matters most to us is the smile on a child’s face as they meet Santa or the gratitude of a family who just found the perfect tree. Those moments are why we do what we do. Thank you for being a part of our story – we look forward to welcoming you to the farm and making your Christmas bright for many years to come.
